Review Alumni
Where former reporters and editors from the University of Delaware student newspaper unite. Woo-hoo!

The response so far has been great, but many of you haven't sent anything to me to post. C'mon, kids, show your fellow alums what you're up to now. Even if you've resorted to talking to a fake decorative chicken that you dress up in Yankee gear and swear is good luck for your fave team. Now that you know how screwed up I am, what about you?

From Michael Lewis (sweetlew2@hotmail.com): I am now a sports writer for the Post-Star in Glens Falls, NY. We're a 40,000 circulation paper near Albany. I cover high school sports and a minor league pro basketball team in the USBL.Also it rocks up here; yes the winters last nine months but oursports section gives us plenty of room to write and there are tons of great feature stories in minor league hoops.I also enjoy pina coladas and getting caught in the rain and ...oops, sorry wrong kind of website...

Seriously, I've been here 8 months and am loving it.

From Cory Penn 2000 (corinasuarezpenn@hotmail.com): Yeah, so I've totally decided to bag the journalism thing. You can call me a quiter, you can call me a loser, but just call me...seriously, any single boys out there looking for a good time, call me...not that i'm desperate or anything, it's just that i'll do anything you want...oh, but yeah, okay, i dumped the writing game and worked really hard to find something that pays less and gives you even less glory: teaching. i'm almost finished taking classes at penn to get my elementary ed certification, and then i think i may hide out in grad school for a year or two, since the real world sucks. here's to a life of being overqualified and underpaid!

From Mitch Powitz, 1990: Love the blog you have set up, no longer in the journalism business (I teach high school social studies and am the assistant varsity baseball coach at Toms River High School South).  Would love to see more UDEL alum involved with your site. (at least ones from my generation).

From Maria Dal Pan AS, 2000: It's 11:30 a.m. here in Reno, Nev. and I just woke up. No, no... not becuase of a late-night beer pong gig. I've been working as a copy editor for the Reno Gazette-Journal and my hours are bizarre -- 4 p.m. to midnight with Tuesday and Wednesday off. Ouch! Actually, it's not that bad. My husband is a sheriff's deputy and he has the same fucked up schedule as I do! always a silver lining... ;)

Paige Wolf (AS 2001) strayed from journalism into PR, however her husband Mike Bederka (AS 2000) keeps her grounded to her UD journalism roots. She currently runs Paige Wolf Media and Public Relations ( paigewolf.com ) with clients in the arts and fashion. She is also a co-founder of the Philadelphia Fashion Coterie, a new group for networking and promotion among Philadelphia area designers and boutiques. Contact Paige at paigewolfpr@aol.com.

From Karen Bischer, former sports editor, Class of 1999: For the last three years I have been a copy editor at Soap Opera Weekly magazine in NYC. No, I haven't met Susan Lucci. I live in Hoboken, NJ, where we finally got the YES Network literally five minutes before the first pitch on Opening Day, and I almost cried with happiness. I'm currently working on a children's book and teen novel that I hope to get published someday so I can sit back and relax and have someone else edit my stuff for a change. I'd love to hear from my former Review mates, and if you're ever up for a Yankee game (except interleague ones, of course) drop me a line at kabsy77@yahoo.com. Or for a laugh, check out my personal blog
